ITALY: PAUL GETTY III RETURNS HOME AFTER FIVE MONTHS IN CAPITIVITY

Story

Paul Getty III - - cold, hungry and missing his right ear - - was reunited with his mother in Italy on Saturday (15th December) after being freed on an snow-swept motorway by kidnappers who had held him captive for five months. Getty, who is 17, is the grandson of the American oil magnate.
Getty was found by police on a motorway south of Salerno. He wore only a white shirt, light trousers and soft shoes.
He was suffering from the cold when he was picked up, and had not eaten in two days.
Reunited with his mother - - Mrs Gail Harris - - Getty was taken by car to Rome. After making a short statement to police in Rome, he was taken to a private clinic in the city. He was reported to be in a state of shock, and was to undergo a full medical check.
